Ridge ground in the county's last incorporated town
Seminole wasn't incorporated as a city until a November 15, 1970 meeting at Seminole Mall drew more than 800 freeholders, the last municipality to incorporate in Pinellas County, and it sits on higher, better-drained ridge ground than many of the county's waterfront and barrier-island communities.

Pinellas County reported widespread impassable roads from downed power lines, fallen trees, and debris after Hurricane Helene's September 26, 2024 landfall and Hurricane Milton's October 9 landfall hit within two weeks of each other.
